News May 2013

Dear Friends.

I am happy to bring you the latest News from the St David’s Cathedral Renewal Fellowship (SDCRF) and its plans and programmes for Evangelisation for the remainder of 2013.

Following the Installation of our Archbishop George Stack we reduced our activities and programme to allow his plans to unfold for the Cathedral, Cornerstone and the Archdiocese.

We can now unveil our own plans for our Mission of evangelisation which we believe will also help to draw people back to Christ and His Church. Freely we have received and so freely we are commanded to give and so all our events are free for everyone to come since they are donation Only.

You are all invited to come to our events and we would like to also encourage you to join in our activities and also consider becoming a volunteer, or if you are too busy why not donate to help our Evangelisation Mission?

The Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet are recited before the Blessed Sacrament and includes periods of silent reflection. Intercessions for our City, Diocese and Nation are also made, and also include prayers for those present and their intentions.

These are monthly Healing Services at St David’s Cathedral, generally on the 3rd Friday of the month; 7pm start.

These will be days or evening aimed at renewing and empowering people through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit.

We aim to have around two annual weekends of Healing and Renewal. These will also include guest speakers. These usually include times of talks, praise and worship, and personal ministry for the individual needs of those who come.

Since our Mission of Evangelisation and associated programmes involve many groups and people we are holding a special Volunteers Commissioning Mass. Our first annual Volunteers Commissioning Mass was held on the Pentecost Vigil Mass in 2012. We aim to hold these annual Volunteering Mass’s every year at the Pentecost Vigil Mass at St David’s Cathedral. This year it will be held on Saturday 18th May 2013, at 5:30pm, where Canon Peter Collins will pray a special Commissioning Prayer for all St David’s Cathedral Renewal Fellowship Volunteers.

We would like to encourage all volunteers to attend personally, however if you are a volunteer and cannot attend please let us know so we can add your name to the list of volunteers who cannot attend, who’s names will be read out during the Commissioning prayer.

Our Mission of Evangelisation and associated programmes involve many groups and people to help run all the activities. Some people can only dedicate a small amount of time whilst others may wish to be more involved. No matter how much or how little you can help, your time and involvement is appreciated and welcome as it helps us to sustain our regular programmes.

With this in mind, we hold regular monthly Volunteer meetings, usually on the 2nd Saturday of the Month, between 12-2pm at the Cornerstone, opposite St David’s Cathedral, where all volunteers from every group can come together in fellowship.

These meetings will include administrative and practical exercises as well as talks and formation and spiritual development. They will conclude with a time of tea/coffee and light snacks.

New Volunteers are welcome to these meetings, as well as regular volunteers, who have become established in one or more groups associated with our programme of events.

Because of our involvement in the Mission of Evangelisation we are associated with other groups and ministries who are also working to proclaim the good news and to build up the church which is founded on our Lord Jesus. Some of these also include; the News Evangelisation Forum, led by Fr Gareth and des Robertson, the Missionaries of Charity, The Cardiff Diocesan Service Team for Catholic Charismatic Renewal and others which we hope to be added from time to time.

We work closely together with these partner groups for a more cohesive and effective programme in our city and diocese as well as for our Nation.

We invite you to come along and to get involved, Hope to see you soon!

Spiro

Chairman SDCRF
